Richard Stark was my meaner alter ego for 14 years, but then he went away. I thought I’d possibly grown older, or even up, and that was why he left. Regretfully, I accepted the idea he was gone for good. And then he came back! When he did, I quite sensibly named that book Comeback, and it was published in 1997. Well, it seems he really is back, because next he produced Backflash, published in 1998, and now he’s written Flashfire, on sale in November.
Comeback. Backflash. Flashfire. Hmmm. A subtle pattern begins to emerge.
